Fasting - I love food! No way am I removing food I love unless I know it's harmful to my health!
When I hear my clients are trying another fad diet it really pains me to know they have to go through such difficult methods in order to achieve their health goals. I recommend Fasting
- Most of us are eating at least 3 meals a day, some of us are still stuck on 6 meals, small and often, and therefore are teaching our bodies to rely on a constant flow of food. Through fasting, our digestive system gets the well needed time to rest and can start effectively repairing and creating new cells and tissues.
- Fasting is an effective way to tweak the metabolism, by teaching the body to use fat as its main energy source instead of sugars given by the constant flow of food, our body can start utilising its ‘reserves’. When the body is able to see fat as its energy source, you will have a longer more consistent flow of energy.
- Fasting is not about reducing the food consumption but rather reducing the period of time that we eat within. Typically fasting is done within a 12-16 hours window, so you could have a typical eating window of 8 hours - an early dinner and a late breakfast with the 8 hours sleep needed can make this an easy entry point.
When our ancestors, the cavemen woke up, they weren't thinking ‘ok time for breakfast’ as there wasn't the abundance of food so readily available to them as we enjoy today. Once we tune our bodies into what they really need for energy, we can start to not only benefit from the physcial appearance we are working towards but also lose some of the emotional attachment to food that keeps us trapped in a continuous eating cycle.
